What surprised you the most about the Model Parliament program?
Something that surprised me a lot about the Model Parliament program was the diversity of the people participating. I was worried that I would be the only student there who only had a basic concept of politics and the government system. However, during the program, I realized that was not the case. The interests of the other students were not limited to politics, but instead spanned across multiple fields such as literature, science, and arts. I had assumed that everyone there wanted to be a politician one day, but I was wrong on that account too. Many of the friends I made weren’t planning on going into politics, but instead wanted to become musicians, engineers, or teachers. Overall, I learned that Model Parliament wasn’t a program for students with an interest in politics, but a program for students with an interest in learning about the world around them.
